Lafourche Parish Council Meeting of May 23,2006
FACTS:
Lafourche Parish Council chairperson, Brent Callais gave an explaination on his reason for voting against councilman Tyrone William’s waterline project. Mr. Callais stated that the water district has its priority set and he wasn’t going to interfere with that procedure.
OPINIONS:
In my opinion, Mr. Callais used sound judgement. A similar situation occured in Mr. Callais’ district on East 40th Street about two years ago,where a 3 inch waterline was installed. In my opinion, not only did Mr. Callais not use sound judgement, but caused the council to violate their own ordinance. Mr. Callais had the council overide the water district’s priority list. This violation was brought up to the attention of Lafourche Parish District Attorney Cam Morvant. In my opinion, Mr. Callais inconsistency is consistent with his political views.
