The 2000 Lafourche Parish Council, AKA 5-4 council
FACTS:
The Lafourche Parish Council of 2000, some of whom governed under the Caillouet administration, campaigned on solving a serious health problem in Lafourche Parish. A serious respitory health situation existed because of the dust from parish shell roads. Ninety five percent of the parish streets in the area represented by councilmen Marlbrough and Lorraine was hard surfaced, which solved the health problem caused by road dust. The 2000 council majority five sucessfully defended the people’s parish charter. Although the 2000 council majority was despicably wronged by the District Attorney, they were still able to accomplish many important projects for the people of Lafourche and leave the present council 45 million dollars in surplus.
OPINIONS:
I often wondered why the organization known as Lafourche First would spend so much money and time in an effort to replace elected officials who done so much good for all of the people of Lafourche parish.
In my opinion, the present day council is a product of Lafourche First, more taxes with less productivity.
In my opinion, the one and only positive comment this present administration can lay claim to, is that they are improving drainage. Perhaps someone should explain to them that we have been in a drouth ever since they have been in office.
Again we ask, Lafourche First, where are you?
