Another Lafourche Parish Council Deception?

FACTS:

In early 2006, Lafourche Parish President Charolette Randolph attempted to have  the Council approve a referendum (election) calling for a new 15 million dollar tax to be held in April 2006. Her attempt failed, and the referendum was scheduled for September 2006.

President Randolph was later successful in convincing the majority of the council to change the referendum from September to July 2006, even at the additional cost of $74,000 to the tax payers of Lafourche parish.

The state’s deadline to place an item on the July referendum was May 31, 2006.

OPINIONS:

In my opinion, Charolette Randolph used the recent hurricanes to try and get new taxes from the tax payers of Lafourche parish. It doesn’t make any difference on how much money the parish council receive, Lafourche parish will always have drainage, flood protection, and wet-lands lost problems it is part of our geographical location.

In my opinion, Ms. Randolph is still scheming to impose a new tax on the people of Lafourche Parish. It is my opinion that Ms. Randolph deliberately left the Special Education District and Drainage District Number One tax renewal off the July ballot. It is my opinion that Ms. Randolph planned to place these two items on the September ballot together with her new 15 million dollar tax. It is my opinion that the people wouldn’t vote against drainage and education renewals and in effect vote in a new 20 year tax.

Realizing now that the people of the tenth ward are upset that the two tax renewals were left out of the July referendum and that all renewals may fail, they are now trying to add the two items to the July ballot. The Lafourche Parish Council is scheduled to vote on a final adoption of an ordinance placing the additional items on the July ballot. If the ordinance passes on June 13th it will become law on June 23rd, 3 1/2 weeks after the state deadline for placing an item on the July ballot.

Did the parish administration submit the two additional items to the Secretary of State without council approval?

Would this render the July election illegal?

Is this another attempt to deceive the public?

In my opinion, Lafourche First must be proud of their hand-picked elected officials.
