Lady of the Sea Hospital in Lafourche Parish

FACTS:

Lafourche parish have three hospital districts. Each district has its own hospital, which has a board of directors made up of individuals appointed by the Lafourche Parish Council. The Lady of the Sea Hospital is located in the southern most district and collect a tax from the tax payers of the district. in fact, it is a public hospital.

OPINIONS:

1.Financially speaking,is the Lady of the Sea (LOS) operating in the black or red?

2.A statement made on a local radio station had the LOS operating in the black. The grape vine has it operating in the red. The grapevine also has the LOS spending thousands of dollars for advertisement on a local radio station.

3.Is the LOS paying Brim Healthcare (management firm from out of state) $250,000 a year plus travel and meal expenses to have the hospital operate at a loss?

4.Did Councilman Brent Callais attempt to remove two board members from the LOS? Were these two board members “Watch Dogs” for the tax payers of the district?

5.Is there a high ranking board member of LOS who may be related to Councilman Callais directing the councilman’s actions?

6.Is it true that Brim’s contract was awarded EIGHT months before its renewal date?

7.Are there record financial losses and loss of market shares? Is there a cover-up?

In my opinion, if it is said that the intent to cover up isn’t present, it has the appearance of impropriety.

We are grateful and thankful to have the LOS hospital in our community. We are asking that the tax payers money be spent wisely.
