Planet Earth to the Lafourche Parish DA; Where Are You?
FACTS:
The long unsolicited harangue by my friend, the Lafourche Parish District Attorney, Camille Morvant, at the June 27, 2006 regular scheduled Lafourche Parish Council meeting, left very little to be desired.
1.This Parish Council has been in office over 2 1/2 years. Why did the DA pick this evening to preach about obeying the Charter?
2.Why did my good friend the DA showboat at a televised public meeting, rather than hold his discussion in executive session?
3.Why did the Parish Chairperson, Brent (Peacock) Callais, allow the DA to exceed the council’s 5 minute time limit?
OPINIONS:
In my opinion, the unsolicited harangue by the DA to the Council was an attempt to cover up his misinforming the council and the parish president not informing the council. In my opinion, the District Attorney wanted a luxury office building at any cost to the taxpayers, even if it meant using the senior citizens health unit funds. In my opinion, the DA ended up with egg on his face and no luxury office because the Attorney General properly informed the parish administration that they could not use health funds for the DA’s luxury office.
In my opinion, the Parish President allegedly signed a contract for over 5 million dollars, without council approval. In my opinion, she should have to pay the consequences as spelled out in the charter. In my opinion, the DA is aware of this alleged issue being made public in the near future. During the DA’s sermon, he said that he was going over the charter to “keep us both out of trouble.” “When contracts are brought up in the future” ———— does it appear that he may over look the way contracts were done in the recent past? It is my opinion, that my good friend Cam Morvant, the Lafourche Parish District Attorney, is attempting to place his head back into the sand where it has been for the last 2 1/2 years, when it comes to the improprieties committed by Charlotte Randolph’s misadministration.
In my opinion, the hot air being produced by my good friend, the DA, is increasing the jellyfish population in the jelly fish pond. In my opinion, according to the DA, if an engineer or contractor lies to authorities about a councilman interfering with a contract, that councilman is history. I wonder which councilman they are trying to get rid of, will it be one of the jellyfish, I doubt it.
