Is More Money The Answer?
FACTS:
Actors and athletes (entertainers) earn more money today than they did in the 1940’s, 50’s and even the 1960’s. Does that mean we have higher quality entertainment today?
The Lafourche Parish President, Charlotte Randolph, is drawing a much higher salary today than any of the previous Lafourche Parish Presidents. Does the tax payers of Lafourche have better government today?
OPINIONS:
In my opinion, Charlotte Randolph’s administration ranks dead last of all previous Lafourche Parish administrations. Is more money the answer?
SOLUTIONS:
The original Charter of 1979 worked well for 20 years. Lafourche Government started its down hill motion when special interest groups convinced the public to vote in favor of a charter change, not once, but twice in a four year period. There is a solution, in my opinion. I feel that two steps are imperative to restoring good government in Lafourche Parish:
step 1. The voters of Lafourche Parish should be given the opportunity to vote on the original charter as originally introduced.
step 2. Remove the DA from the parish council. The voters of Lafourche should contact our state legislators and demand that they repeal the state law which mandates the DA serve as legal advisor to the Lafourche Parish Governing Authority.
I believe that it is time for the general public (not the Parish President, not the special interest groups, not the DA or sheriff) to take our parish back.
In the words of Merle Haggard, “we are heading down hill like a snow-ball heading for he_ _”. Only the general public can stop the snow-ball, contact your local and state legislators.
