Does a Public Relations Program Work?

FACTS:

Is public relations another term for damage control?  What is the strategy behind no public relations on a particular issue?  Could the meaning of no public relations be to shift the focus away from the issue?

OPINIONS:

Lafourche Parish issues:

Larry Widell does a good job at public relations for the Sheriff’s office.  We haven’t heard from Mr. Widell lately, but that is another story.
The DA does his own public relations, he believes his own press.  At least, he is trying to convince the voters of his perceived greatness.
Congressman Melancon is attempting his own public relations program.  I know he is trying, but it appears that all he does is inform an informed constituency that Louisiana got the short end of the stick.  Some one may want to remind Mr. Melancon that he is a US Congressman, and the US may be on the verge of World War III, so please represent us as a nation.

We are fortunate here in Lafourche Parish.  Parish president Charlotte Randolph is alleged to have owned a public relations business in another life.  This is the part where the story gets a little weird.  Most elected officials, who does something good, issue a press release, call the press, appears on radio and TV and shout out the great news.  My question is, if the alleged placement of the bladders on the levee saved lives and property as stated by Phillip Gouaux, why didn’t it make news?  This type of news would have cemented the greatness of Charlotte Randolph and Phillip Gouaux, but they choose to keep it a secret.  Why?

Why aren’t we hearing anything from Mr. Widell?  Is the sheriff’s office doing anything on the “BLADDER” issue?  This is a golden opportunity for the DA to show-boat, but it appears that he went into a coma on the “BLADDER” issue.  Congressman Melancon appears to be quick at criticizing FEMA; He appears to be silent on this issue.

SOLUTIONS:

The tax-payers would like to see a real investigation by qualified individuals from the responsible authority.

Did George Randolph wreck in a parish vehicle?  Is George Randolph an authorized parish employee?  It is alleged that our DA is going to defend George and Charlotte rather than the tax-payers of Lafourche.  Shouldn’t he be prosecuting rather than defending?  Congressman Melancon thinks that Louisiana is getting the short end of the stick from the Federal Government, well the tax-payers of Lafourche are allegedly getting the proverbial shaft from many of our elected officials and their connected cronies.

Stay in touch, know the truth, do not forget what is happening today, come election day.
