A Lafourche Parish Grandmother’s Nightmare!
FACTS:
All grandmothers are mothers. In most cases, mothers love their children and attempt to remain in contact with them, even after the child has reached adulthood.
OPINIONS:
Was it a dream or did it really happen? A grandmother mentioned that she experienced what she thought was a horrifying dream. She dreamed that the local law enforcement agency went from an all-time low of selective law enforcement to selective harassment. The grandmother dreamed that she received a phone call from a person who identified himself as a local deputy. The deputy told the grandmother that her son filed a complaint against her for “PHONE HARASSMENT” and told her to report to the sheriff’s office where he will meet her and issue a citation. The deputy went on to say, if you fail to appear, I will have you arrested. The frantic grandmother, too emotional to drive, asked someone to drive her to the sheriff’s office. Once at the sheriff’s office, no one knew why she was there. When one deputy asked, he was told about the phone harassment charges. His response was “what without any previous warning”? The grandmother became ill and no one tried to help her. The driver stated to a deputy that he was taking the grandmother to a doctor then to her house. The driver requested that a deputy call the house when more information was available. This nightmare poses a few questions.
1. Could the deputy be charged with phone harassment?
2. The grandmother might have had a phone conversation with the sheriff. Could this incident be the sheriff’s way of getting even for being on the losing end of a phone conversation?
3. At what point does a mother’s phone call to a son, become harassment?
4. one definition of harassment is: annoy continually, at what point does annoying become a threat to society?
5. Why didn’t the deputy get both sides of the story before he acted?
The tax payers are annoyed every day by loud noises, drunk drivers, speeders, lack of law enforcement, Alleged public corruption, lack of prosecutions and lies from our elected officials. When will our elected officials be cited for annoying continually, or by definition, harassment? The grandmother’s dream can happen to you. Are we all supposed to stop being parents? We no longer have freedom of speech in Lafourche Parish?
