Lafourche First Core Values

FACTS:

A letter from Lafourche First, dated April 10, 2003 to fellow Chamber Member and concerned citizen, depict the names of individuals picked for the “Lafourche First” Board of Directors.  The letter was signed, sincerely, Paul Tom Gaudet,M.D., Membership Chairman.  The board of Directors as depicted on the letter are as follows:
Ronald Adams (President), Carol LeBlanc (Vice President), Al Danos (Secretary Treasurer), Jane Birdsall, Harold Block, Gwen Cheramie, Cullen Curole, Dan Duplantis, William Eroche, Paul Tom Gaudet, M.D., Jake Giardina, Grant Gravious, Don Harang, C. Lindy Hoffman, Joe Leonard, Chick Martin, Bill Melancon and Larry Weidel.

OPINIONS:

Just about every member of the Board of Directors either work for the Parish, is appointed to a board, or represent the owner of a large company with the exception of Jane Birdsall, who just happens to be sister to Parish President Charlotte Randolph.  The Lafourche First group expressed a desire to elect a Parish President and Council with the same core values as Lafourche First Members.  Take a good look at Lafourche Parish public officials, in my opinion, they have the same “LACK” of values as members of the Lafourche First group.  Did the citizens of Lafourche Parish follow the advice of a group of “WANNA-BE’S?  In my opinion they did.  In my opinion, the alleged corruption that is seen in Lafourche Parish today, can be attributed to the good citizens of Lafourche not thinking for themselves and listening to the scandalous and often sensational gossip from Lafourche First.

Did you see the so called investigative report on Craig Webre, conducted by an investigative reporter from FOX  NEWS channel 8 in New Orleans, Louisiana?  It appeared that Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre and FOX NEWS 8 investigative reporter were reading from a script written by Larry Weidel.  Mr. Weidell is the PR person for the Lafourche Parish Sheriff office.

You can take your State Representative and State Senator to lunch as long as you spend $50 or less for their lunch.  This is such a hardship that the public officials may have to pay for their own lunch so that they do not suffer from malnutrition.

Why aren’t the Feds Investigating?

FACTS:

The following was reported in a forum in the Daily Comet:

U. S. District Court, Eastern district of Louisiana civil action # 07-6987, C.L.A.W., Gordon Rice, Brad Blanchard Vs Craig Webre, Bud Dill, and Donald Harang .  500 Poydras Street, New Orleans, Louisiana.
The civil action is alleging serious federal law violations by the named defendants.  My question is, why does private citizens have to take civil action instead of federal authorities?

OPINIONS:

In my opinion, Weber and members of his dynasty will do just about anything to get re-elected.  The allegations mentioned in the civil action do not surprise me.  It is getting to the point where the lack of federal authorities involvement no longer surprise me.
It is alleged that Craig Webre came up with a illegal scam to have Brent Callais elected to the district 8 council seat.  It is alleged that Webre furnished Callais with a bullet proof vest and sheriff deputies as body guards during the 2003 political campaign.  It went as far as having Callais walking the sidelines of a high school football game with his vest and body guards.  The voters bought into the lies and they were successful.
It is alleged that Lafourche Parish Cam Morvant and Judge Laniere were successful in putting a halt to local government in early 2004 for the purpose of allegedly preventing future litigation against their campaign contributors.  The voters bought into their scheme and they were successful.
These schemes and scams were reported to the Feds.  Why didn’t the Feds react to these alleged criminal acts?  Can it be that politicians like Webre, Morvant, Randolph, Laniere and a few others are small fish not worth federal efforts?  Could it be that the Feds are saying that the voters of Louisiana and especially the voters of Lafourche deserve the alleged corrupted officials that they are fooled into voting for?

It was said by a person unknown to me that the definition of a crazy person is a person who keeps on doing the same thing over and over but expect different results.  Doesn’t it appear that Louisiana and especially Lafourche, keep electing candidates with no campaign platform and expect different results?  Am I saying that the voters of Louisiana and Lafourche are crazy?  NO!  It may just have that appearance to the rest of the country.

The Reform Louisiana Legislature:

FACTS:
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal would like to be known as the reform Governor.  He has called for a special session of the Legislature on ethics reform, schedule to begin Sunday, February 10, 2008 at 6:00PM.

OPINIONS:

It was stated in the media that some present day ethics board members stated that the Governor’s recommendations for ethics reform legislation would weaken the ethics laws.

A caller on the WWL talk show stated that Jindal will go down in history as the “Republican Edwin Edwards”.

My main concern is the person who is representing me in Representative District 54.  Representative Gerry “Truck” Gisclair stated on his radio station during previous election campaigns that the people should vote for young blood with new ideas.  This is the same person who at 60 years old, ran against younger candidates.  Mr. Gisclair has yet to come up with an original idea.

It was stated that Mr. Gisclair received a phone call from George Randolph which stated that he (Mr. Gisclair) must not allow Darryl Marlbrough to appear on his radio station ever again.  Mr. Gisclair honored Mr. Randolph’s request.  If Mr. Gisclair can be so easily convinced by a low-life like George Randolph, what do you think will happen with a legislative body stacked with attorneys?

I will not prejudge Mr. Gisclair, but rest assured that I will judge and comment on his legislative actions.
